Simple Easter Treat.

Hi there! Happy Easter! So, my cousin and I thought about making some yummy treats for Easter and what simple, easy treat to make other than Rice Krispie Treats. We thought we could make Robin's Nest with Cadbury Mini Eggs with some chocolate drizzle. What you would need is:
  • A whole package of regular sized Marshmallows
  • We used 4 Tsp. of butter, but I think the recipe calls for less than that (We were eyeballing it)
  • Enough Rice Krispies to coat (Again, we were eyeballing it)
  • A few pieces of chocolate (dark or milk) to melt
  • Cadbury Mini Eggs (Just enough to fill the nests)
First, you will want to heat up a sauce pan on medium heat. Next, when your pan is hot enough, turn the heat to low and add in your butter. When your butter is fully melted, add in about half of the marshmallows and turn the heat up to medium low. By putting in half of the marshmallows, it quicken the melting process. Once it is melted, add in the rest and let it melt. When it is all melted, you want it to cool down a bit before mixing it with the Rice Krispies. In a mixing bowl, pour in your Rice Krispies. Then, with your melted marshmallows, pour it in the mixing bowl with the Rice Krispies while it is still warm. If it is necessary, add some more Rice Krispies. Next, you can use the back of a muffin tin sprayed with some cooking oil to mold the nest, but we molded them free-handedly. You would want to set them on some wax or parshment paper on a baking sheet so that it can cool and harden. When you're done molding them, put them in the fridge for about 10-15 minutes. While you wait, you can melt your chocolate. I would suggest to add a little bit of olive or vegetable oil in the chocolate so that it won't chunk up so quickly. Next, pour the chocolate in a plastic baggy and snip one corner to drizzle. Take out the chilled nest and begin to drizzle your chocolate. After, you can start placing your eggs in the nests. Lastly, move the nests into some cupcake liners and there you have it! Robin's Nests for an Easter treat. I hope that you enjoy making them and enjoy eating them! These are fun to make.

What I Ate This Morning.

There's nothing really exciting happening, so I'm going to share with you what I ate this morning. I am currently on a healthy foods diet, and a good morning always starts with some good, healthy eats. I had a lovely smoothie bowl that was full of protein. I didn't have a lot of fruits around, so it wasn't as fruity as I normally would make it. I had bananas and mangoes. In my opinion, bananas are a must have in smoothies because it just makes them sweeter and tastier. So, when you have bananas, you are set. I froze one banana the night before so that it's ready for me to blend in the morning. So, in the smoothie, I had one frozen banana, a table spoon of almond butter (I used the maple flavored one from Justin's), a few pieces of diced mangoes, soy milk, and once everything seems to be blended, I added a little bit of unsweetened cocoa powder to give it a hint of chocolate flavor. After the smoothie was completely blended and smooth, I just poured it in a bowl and topped it would granola, chia seeds, and a few more pieces of diced mangoes. I can tell you that it was delicious! I had some coffee as well. What a yummy breakfast.

-A tip about smoothie bowls: when you make them, make sure you make them a little thicker than you would normally make smoothies so that it wouldn't just be a drink in a bowl. Haha.

Endless Eating Adventure.

Over the weekend, my cousin, Jane, came to visit since it was the last few days of her spring break. We both went on a food tour type of thing. When Jane arrived, we went to SoHo for a bit and decided to go to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for the first time, and I just have to say that I am in LOVE. I got a hazelnut ice blended and it is not the typical frozen coffee drink that you would get at Starbucks. It's happiness in a cup. On Friday, we went to East Village and to several places. I got really full, meanwhile, Jane continued to order more food. We decided to get lunch at a Japanese ramen restaurant called Ippudo. It was a 30 minute wait for the two of us, so we walked around. Then, we decided to get smoothies at Liquiteria, which is a juicery shop. We walked around Union Square Park since we had some time left. After, we walked back to the restaurant and got our seats. The ramen is really good, it was definitely authentic Japanese ramen. When we finished, we walked over to the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop. I got the classic, infamous Salty Pimp, which is a vanilla soft serve with salted caramel dipped in chocolate on a cake cone. It's pretty awesome, but the person who made mine put a little too much salt. The next place that we went to is a ice shavery place called Snowdays. Jane and I decided to share it because the portion for a regular is too much. We got a flavor called yeti tracks, which is basically cookies n' creme, with condensed milk drizzle and fruity pebbles. The spoons are cool, pun intended, because they turned blue when it touches cold temperatures. The next place that we ordered food at is Artichoke pizza. I didn't buy a slice because I was way too full and exhausted. Then, we went to Baohaus, which is an American twist to a Taiwanese/Chinese bao, a sweet steamed bun with meat and/or vegetable. On Saturday, we went to the Upper East Side and went to Alice's Tea Cup for lunch and afternoon tea. It was a 45 minute wait, but it was worth it because I definitely felt like a little girl again having a tea party. We got The Mad Hatter, which is an afternoon tea special with a three-tiered stand with our options of 3 scones, 2 sandwiches, and a dessert with assorted cookies and two options of tea. Taking a break from eating, we decided to walk it off by going to the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art). We actually stayed until closing. We then walked around Central Park and then went to Sprinkled Cupcakes and got the Sprinkles Sundae. To be honest, it was too sweet for me because of the frosting and the ice cream combined, but it was still good. I know I'm a couple of days late with posting this, but hey, I've been busy. I can't wait to try more things, because the eating adventure will not rest.

Keep Up With Me.

Break, the time to be lazy as heck and do whatever you'd like to do without anything to worry about. Basically, I am describing my break. I am a college (university) student and winter break is a little over a month long. The beginning of break was fun for a bit, then I just became bored and tired. I just need to catch you up with what I have been doing during my break instead of typing up a blog post. Once finals were over, I went Christmas shopping. Yeah, the last minute Christmas shopping. I usually get my shopping done early, but it has been a very stressful semester and I didn't have time because I had to do projects and essays, oh yeah, and studying. Then when I was completely finished, I tried to catch up on all of the YouTube videos that I missed and catch up on some TV shows. It was a lot to do. I also went to the Rockefeller Tree and the big ornaments located at the Avenue of the Americas to take some pictures. Then when my dad's break began, we travelled to Virginia to celebrate the holiday. We did the usual, nothing that exciting. I also got to hang out with a very good friend of mine from high school when I was in Virginia. I got to eat and try different foods during the time that I wast there, like &Pizza, which is a pizza bar where you get to pick and choose your toppings, almost like Chipotle. I also went to the country's capital (Washington, D.C.) for a little bit because my distant cousins' grandpa was visiting and we showed him around and took pictures. On New Year's Eve, I got to wear a flashback outfit. It included a scrunchy, a velvet shirt, and high-waisted jeans (which you can find a photo of the outfit on my Instagram: @sandylepear). When my dad's break was over, we went back to New York. I have been staying and waking up late for the past few weeks. I need to cut that habit since the Spring Semester is approaching. Anyway, that sums up my break!

What Have I Been Up To?

HI! Yes, I am back. It is finally winter break and I have the time to post something. It has been about two months that I have been away from this blog. I didn't really do anything really exciting from my little hiatus. Just the typical, school in the way type of thing. Anyway, I did explore New York City more. Even though I am a born and raised New Yorker, I still needed to explore a lot. I had a project to do and I went to Williamsburg in Brooklyn for the first time and went to Momofuku Milk Bar one day in November. I can tell you that I enjoy their famous cereal milk soft served ice cream. I had it for breakfast that day too. Later that day, I went to Manhattan to celebrate my best friend's birthday and just walked around Lexington Avenue and Central Park. By the evening, I got the try Insomnia Cookies for the very first time and I definitely fell in love. They bake the perfect cookies. Perfect as in, crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside... I am drooling and craving for some of these cookies right now.  Another day in November, I did more of my project in East Village in Manhattan. I got to try artichoke and crab pizza from the famous, Artichoke Basille's Pizza. OH MY... it is delicious. Then, during Thanksgiving break, I went to Virginia. I got to try Nando's because it recently opened in a mall nearby. It is definitely one of my favorite restaurants now. It's just amazing. Then I went back to school and did the usual and then I took my finals. I just recently went to take some photos of the famous Christmas-y things in New York City. Oh! I also found my love of spicing up my hot chocolate with whipped cream and pumpkin spice or just chocolate syrup. YUM. I also got creative with nail polish. I've found Hubert's Lemonade at a grocery store nearby as well. That's what I have been up too lately. Not so exciting, but I got to try new things, my favorite things... FOOD.

Exploring the Native Land.

It has been a long week and I needed to find a way to escape the stress that I have from school. My best friend, Lizette, and I decided to hang out yesterday and we basically did a little bit of exploring. Where we live, there's a diner that's a few blocks away from the both of us. While growing up in the area, we have never been there. We decided to get lunch there, and it was pretty good. After we were done, we got on the subway and went to 5th avenue. Lizette had to go to Tiffany&Co to purchase a birthday present for her sister. It felt like we were in the fabulous Breakfast at Tiffany's. After that, we decided to go take a stroll in Central Park. We got to see a sea lion while walking pass the zoo. We also sort of had our own personal photo shoot. We usually walk around the same perimeter, but we had a lot of time and decided to find the pond. The both of us have never been to the pond before. Once we got there, I felt like I was entering a fairytale-like getaway. The warm, breezy weather was relaxing and the view was amazing. I enjoy days like this. It's just the time to reevaluate and escape.

What Did I Do Last Week?

I have been slacking on creating blog posts on time recently. I honestly wanted to post on the days of when I had my small "adventures," but things kept getting in the way. Anyway, I'll explain my week through each photo that I've taken.

I went to the pet shop once again and played with a different puppy. This puppy was way too playful and too hyper for my liking. Although, the puppy was super adorable. This puppy's heart was pretty much racing when I held it.

The next day, I went back to New York with my mom and my cousin, Jane and stayed for three days. We came back for no reason really; just for fun. We got to fulfill our cravings of Thai food at the restaurant near by the house.

Laudree is one place that I needed to try and cross off my bucket list and we happened to be shopping in SoHo. So, why not go on a mission to find the shop?

On the drive back to Virginia, I've decided to experiment with my new camera and discovered this setting. I thought it was pretty awesome.

The next day after coming back from Virginia, it was my 13 year old cousin's birthday party and it was just a crew of family-friends and other cousins.

During the party, I thought that I should take photos with my parents and so I did.

Anyway, what a week I had.
